Looking for Work at Cub World or Camp Alpine?There are so many exciting opportunities! We've but to gether a list of some of the jobs we have available. Most are seven weeks in duration and run from the beginning of July until the middle of August unless otherwise noted. Trading
Post Manager: Is responsible for
ordering supplies and food snacks for the Trading Post, filling and delivering
orders and compiling a weekly inventory. He/she
helps train the Trading Post staff in merchandising techniques. Must be able to track inventory through the computer and
inventory books, lift and move heavy boxes, use a computer and cash register,
and have good communication skills. Must
be able to converse in the English language; walk over uneven terrain; drive a
standard transmission; and have adequate sight and auditory ability to see and
hear. Assistant
Ranger Staff: Responsible
for the physical up keep of camp and all related camp equipment. Be able to lift heavy items and to work with tools. Must be
able to converse in the English language; walk over uneven terrain; drive a
standard transmission; and have adequate sight and auditory ability to see and
hear. Camp
Chaplain: Reports to Camp Director.
Is responsible for celebration of religious services, for meeting with
Cubmasters and staff as needed and to share time with the Cubs both at meals and
during activities and for counseling homesick youth.
Assists at camp wide activities and emergencies.
Must be able to converse in the English language; walk over uneven
terrain; and have adequate sight and auditory ability to see and hear. PROGRAM
DEPARTMENT (Reports to the Program Director) Aquatics
Director: Responsible for the development and implementation of the Camp Aquatics
Program. He/she supervises the
staff at the pool and is responsible for the safe operation of the pool and
maintenance of facilities and equipment. The
Aquatics Director and his/her staff have four main objectives related to the
pool operations; 1) water safety; 2) help Cubs improve their swimming ability;
3) allow for Cub Scout advancement opportunities and 4) allow Cubs and campers
to have fun. Must be able to
converse in the English language; and have adequate sight and auditory ability
to see and hear. Shooting
Sports Director: Is
responsible for the safe and smooth operation of the Archery Target Shooting
Range and BB/Sling shot range. Sees to it that all ranges are operated safely
and efficiently, allowing Cub Scouts to have both a fun and an educational
experience. He/she also sees to it
that advancement opportunities are provided for. Must be able to converse in the
English language; walk over uneven terrain; and have adequate sight and auditory
ability to see and hear. Ecology
Director:
Responsible for the development and implementation of the camp's Ecology Program
and the supervision of the ecology staff. He/she
is responsible for the facilities and equipment assigned to the area and
maintains it in a clean and safe order. The
Ecology Area includes both the Ecology Center and the Nature Trail.
The Director is responsible for ensuring that advancement opportunity is
available. Must be able to converse
in the English language; walk over uneven terrain; and have adequate sight and
auditory ability to see and hear. Theme
Director:
Responsible for developing and delivering quality programs at the fort, ship and
and mine areas. He/She will coordinate the staffing levels at each of the areas,
insure adequate program supplies are on hand and the facilities are properly
maintained, making their theme area come "alive" through costumes,
staging and decorating their area and through the program they run and making
sure that advancement opportunities are provided for. Must be able to converse
in the English language; walk over uneven terrain; and have adequate sight and
auditory ability to see and hear. Activity
Center Director:
Responsible for developing and delivering quality programs in and around the
Activity Center, including the climbing wall, basketball, Fire Department, star
lab, miniature golf, initive games, rainy day and some evening programs. He/She
will coordinate the staffing levels at each of the areas, insure adequate
program supplies are on hand and the facilities are properly maintained, making
sure that advancement opportunities are provided for. Must be able to converse
in the English language; walk over uneven terrain; and have adequate sight and
auditory ability to see and hear. Field
Sports Director:
Responsible for implementing the camp's Field Sports Program.
He/she will supervise all of the activities and the staff.
It is his/her responsibility to maintain all equipment assigned to the
area and to conduct a safe and orderly program.
Must be able to converse in the English language; walk over uneven
terrain; personally lead games and have adequate sight and auditory ability to
see and hear. Crafts
Director:
Responsible for implementing all craft programs in all program areas, insuring
an adequate supply of materials and equipment is on hand at all times. Will
develop theme related craft projects. Must be able to converse in the English
language; walk over uneven terrain; and have adequate sight and auditory ability
to see and hear. SITE
LEADER & ASSISTANT SITE LEADER: Responsible for the leadership of
youth at camp in such a manner as to provide for the physical and emotional well
being of each participant. Administers
the programs and policies of the Boy Scouts of America, Greater New York
Councils and is responsible to the camp director. With assigned leadership give
direct supervision and leadership to youth assigned to campsite. Adhere to all
Health and Safety guidelines of the Boy Scouts of America and the State of New
Jersey. Report all infractions;
injuries, etc. to the Camp Director or designee. Supervise and guide all
assigned youth to their program areas, meals and areas of personal hygiene
(bathroom clean-up area, showers, etc) Provide mature, responsible example
during camp situations in a way which provides a positive role model for youth Maintain
records, accident reports and advancement progress toward awards. Provide
campsite program in addition to those provided by the camp program staff. Other
camp duties such as program assistance, fire detail, duty assignments, etc. will
be determined by the Camp Director. Site Leaders must be 21 years of age.
Assistant Site Leaders must be at least 18 years of age. They
must have the ability to manage time effectively; coexist in the outdoors and
the ability to work with urban youth. Scouting/Camp
background, training in first aid and/or CPR, bilingual capabilities are
helpful.
