Camp Activities
The Alpine Scout Camp has plenty of weekend activities for your unit. The Gary I Laermer Activity Center The center includes a Outdoor Climbing Tower, Indoor Climbing Wall, Ping Pong Tables, Foosball Tables, Volleyball Court and Basketball Court. Archery Range The Range has 8 shooting positions, and bows for both youth and adults. The Range is open during limited times/weekends due to weather and Campmaster availability. BB Range This Range sports six targets and uses the benchrest position for shooting. The Range is open during limited times/weekends due to weather and staff availability. Orienteering Course The Compass Course was created by Bronx Unit, Ship 544 for scouts of all ages. It covers most of our camp and takes about 2 hours to complete. You can pickup a copy of the course at the Alpine Trading Post. You will need a compass. The Alpine Scout Camp "Red Dot Trail" The trail is about 5 miles long and covers the camps near 600 acres. Walking the trail requires a good pair of hiking boots. You will be crossing small streams and stepping over logs. Please never attempt walking the trail alone. Palisades Hike Just outside of camp is the Palisades Interstate Park. It offers hiking trails and scenic views of both New York City and the Hudson River. Units are invited to seek appropriately lengthed hikes, many hike the Long Path on one day overnight with us and retrn via the Shore Trail to New York City. Some sections of the trails include steep and slightly challenging terrain. Please never attempt hiking the Palisades alone. |
